After messages of condolences flooded in following the news that the long-term partner of popular comedian. Russell Gilbert, had passed away, the 55-year-old entertainer took to Instagram in order to pay tribute to Rochelle Nolan.

Rochelle, who was engaged to be married to the Australian actor and entertainer, was found dead in a hotel bedroom in Melbourne last Thursday.

Russell, who is known for his roles in films Ned Kelly and The Extra, took to his social media channels in order to thank fans and followers for their concern in recent days.

In addition to extending his gratitude for their messages of support, the comedy actor, who had been dating Rochelle for almost 20 years, opened up about his partner's untimely death.

"To all our friends, my partner of 19 years passed away," began Russell in a heartbreaking post.

"Thanks to you all. I will miss her. RIP Rochelle. Please don't worry for me, I will be OK but thank you all so much," he continued.

Offering an insight into the relationship he shared with his fiancée, Russell continued: "I will remember Rochelle before she got broken. She was an angel, mental illness is part of life, I was just trying to look after her."

Hoping to remove the stigma attached to mental illness, the star warned fans and followers to be vigilant when it comes to symptoms, writing: "Saw what was going on and she had put a plan in place. Look out for someone close when you see the signs."

Police have confirmed that they are not treating Rochelle's death as suspicious.

Our thoughts go out to Rochelle's family and friends at this devastating time.
