Pretty Little Liars star Shay Mitchell has had to explain some basic pregnancy and birth facts to her boyfriend, Matte Babel.
The YouTube star literally makes Matte walk in her shoes after the pair disagree on parenting decisions, like breastfeeding versus formula or whether to get an epidural during labour.
The 33-year-old puts a 30-pound pregnancy suit on her boyfriend to show him exactly the amount of extra weight Mitchell is carrying, even putting devices underneath to impersonate the feel of kicks.
In the third episode of 'Almost Ready', the star's YouTube series, the couple embark on a 'baby basics' class and bicker over birthing choices.
Matte and Shay are expecting a baby girl together, and one of the main discrepancies was breastfeeding and how best to nourish the newborn.
"If you can't breastfeed, I completely understand ..." Babel says, in which Mitchell replied, "Some women don't want to."
"I'm against that and I'm sure there's a lot of women who are against it too," Babel says.
"I'm just thinking if you have the innate ability to breastfeed and the kid latches why would you not want the best for you baby?"
Mitchell explains, "because formulas are good, too." Babel shares some of the benefits of breastfeeding, concluding; "If you can't do it, of course, that's rough. I get it."
The couple discusses their birth plan later on, with Mitchell arguing the case for an epidural.
"I feel like we need to be more on the same page," the actress says. "Am I partial to no epidural, yes," Babel replies.
"Why? Because I'm a hypochondriac. I'm afraid of drugs. My mom didn't use an epidural. ... I meet women all the time who didn't choose to use an epidural."
Mitchell compares it to getting a root canal without pain relief or drugs, but Babel replies with; "As a woman your body is genetically engineered to give birth." Needless to say, this doesn't go down well.
"Well, listen, next time you can do this," Mitchell says, pulling out the pregnancy suit. Shay's YouTube series is documenting the journey to becoming a first-time mum.
