She has admitted that she ‘can’t remember life’ before the horrific ordeal, and now this star has spoken out about her daughter’s accident in a bid to prevent similar heartache for others.

Almost a year since daughter Matilda’s Halloween costume caught fire, leaving her in hospital for weeks, Strictly Come Dancing presenter Claudia Winkleman has urged caution ahead of the holiday festivities.

Making an emotional appearance on BBC’s Watchdog, the mother-of-three recalled how she ‘couldn’t put Matilda out’ and how the child’s ‘tights melted into her’ after the costume went up in flames.

Wiping away tears, the 43-year-old said: “I would like parents, on Halloween, just to think about what they’re going to put their kids in. Because I didn’t. And it cost us.”

“I don’t want another eight-year-old to go through what ‘Tilda went through. I don’t want this to happen…Even if I stop a few people going, ‘Ok, let’s not put them in that, near a naked flame’ – that would be amazing. That is why I’m here,” she added.

Claudia went on to say that Matilda is doing well now, a year after the incident, and she is ‘running’ and ‘jumping’ around.

This is an incredibly important message to share with parents everywhere. Watch Claudia’s interview and message in full, below.
