Quite hippy and simple: This Call the Midwife actor wed and she looks stunning

She might play the quiet nun Sister Winifred but in real life, actor Victoria Yeates is as far away from her on-screen alter ego as you could imagine.

The 35-year-old, with her tumbling red hair and striking features is the epitome of bohemian cool - an her wedding pictures show.

The cast of hugely popular TV show Call The Midwife had special break while filming their Christmas special to see Victoria tie the knot in France.

Victoria exchanged vows with musician Paul Housden at a 13th century chateau in the Pyrenees.

And of course, that meant a Call the Midwife cast reunion - there was stars like Jenny Agutter, Judy Parfitt, Helen George and Cliff Parisi.

Victoria said, ''Loads of the cast came and nipped over between filming. After the ceremony we all ate outside by this river on the grounds.''

The celebration came two years after she and Paul got engaged in South Africa, as cast filmed the 2016 Christmas episode. 

The festive episode will see a new face - Miriam Margolyes or Sister Mildred.

Victoria said, “Miriam is fabulous. You never know what is going to come out of her mouth! She’s really fun and very generous of spirit. All the younger actors would sit around and ask her questions about her career.'

She adds, ''You do pinch yourself when you look around and realise how many great people are on the show.''

Call the Midwife is on BBC1 at 7.45pm, Christmas Day and we cannot wait to tune in.
