LOVE my Nespresso machine but like the others I would prefer to be able to pick up the capsules in the shop than having to order online. I always use Robert Roberts Colombian blend in my Cafetiere so this would probably be a natural fit for me! I'd love to take part in this trial.

I'm like all the others here too. Love my nespresso machine but heading into town to buy the capsules is a pain!

I received my coffee capsules in the post the other day and I was so impressed with the design of the packaging! I loved the shape of the box, the petiteness of it all.. And for me it felt like the coffee capsules were presented in a 'treat' like box.. And coffee capsules are definitely my treat!

I love strong coffee.. So I started off with the intensity 7.. Definitely a gorgeous smell coming from my Nespresso machine as it poured out. And the taste was just perfect. A gorgeous blend of coffee!

Then I moved onto intensity 9 which had a lovely rich taste to it. It was a perfect pick me up for the afternoon!

Later on in the day I had intensity 10. As I said above I LOVE strong coffee and this capsule definitely lived up to its name, and it didn't let me down..

It smelt amazing as it poured from my Nespresso. Strong and intense. I drank this as an espresso and it certainly hit the spot. It was full of flavour and had a creamy texture to it.

Overall I was soooo impressed with my Robert Roberts coffee capsules, not only did they taste just like they were described but the biggest selling point for me is the fact that I can walk into my local Dunnes and BUY these capsules!!

In fact what makes it so much nicer is that when my husband or any family member are out and about - it's so easy for anyone to pick up a pack! Unlike the Nespresso which unfortunately is on Level 3 in Brown Thomas and not many of my family are there on a regular basis..

This makes me very happy.. To think that I don't need to purchase in bulk and spend a fortune or look at the capsules as a luxury item... I can now look at the fact that these capsules are easily available and can be picked up at any time of the day, locally!!

I am officially converted! X

The timing of this trial was ideal for our family as we purchased a Nespresso coffee machine for the first time only a few months ago and we are still experimenting with different flavours and deciding which we like best. Our machine is used several times a day and it was the best purchase we have made in a long time. I was delighted to be chosen to take part as we are a household of caffeine addicts and we are constantly searching for that perfect cup. From my point of view, I am not able to function without my coffee kick first thing each morning!

I have heard of the Robert Roberts coffee brand many times before and we are long time customers, regularly purchasing a number of different types of coffee from their range, which we have always enjoyed. I would have a strong faith in the brand and I would expect premium quality and consistency in all their products. However, I had not heard of the new Robert Roberts Nespresso Compatible Coffee Capsules. I think they are a very clever, convenient and smart idea. Currently we do have trouble getting the pods for our machine. To date, we have always had to go into Brown Thomas to purchase the pods in bulk and this isn’t ideal. I realise that they can be purchased online but being the old fashioned people that we are, we prefer to go into a shop to pick them out ourselves. So from that perspective, a wider availability of the pods is ideal. I was very pleased to see that they will be stocked in all major retailers. I am aware that these pods are considered a premium product, but I do think that the price of €3.80 for a box of ten is rather expensive. Personally, I would like to have seen the price closer to €3.00. However, I think I would still be prepared to buy them as part of the weekly shop. At that price though, I might have to restrict everybody to just 1 cup a day!

In comparison to our old coffee machine (which didn’t use pods), I think the use of coffee pods is extremely efficient. We are always assured of a delicious tasting fresh cup of coffee quickly, easily and without mess. As we all know only too well, there are just so many ways of getting a cup of coffee wrong. With these pods, there is no need to tamper with the machine, no measuring required, no stale packets left open and no need for a separate grinder. By using coffee pods you get it right first time, every time. In addition, they are so straightforward to use that even elderly people could get the hang of it. There was no problem at all using them in our machine. We just popped a coffee pod into the filter hold of the machine and waited a minute for the perfect coffee to brew. Then we just threw out the pod.

The packaging was appealing and would catch my eye on the shelf. The boxes were light and compact, each containing 20 pods. While the intensity of the coffee was clearly stated on the front of the box, I would like it to be more obvious as to whether each type would be more suitable for one who prefers a mild/medium or coffee. This isn’t immediately visible when looking at the package and while the 3 strengths were identified by a different colour, I thought that this differentiation could be more emphasized. It took me a while to examine each box to see which one I was to be testing. One suggestion I would have would be to use an entirely different coloured box for each type.

There were 3 different intensities to taste in the trial. Intensity 7 is a sweet and smooth 100% Arabica coffee which was meant to suitable for a morning drink. I would agree with this advice. The coffee is slightly sweet and has the right amount of kick - sure to get you going and ready to face the day ahead. It now forms part of my morning routine! Intensity 9 tasted more luxurious. It has a slightly nutty flavour rather than sweet and personally we liked it after our lunch or after our dinner with a bit of chocolate to round off the meal. Intensity 10 was quite different and tasted much stronger with a slight hint of liquorice. It was the least popular in our house as it was that bit too strong for our tastes. We then decided to retry all the intensities with hot milk to see what we would think. Everybody agreed that each of the 3 varieties diluted were far more appealing. They were very easy to drink and pleasant to taste. I have always been a cappuccino/latte coffee drinker so the milk/coffee combination was far more enjoyable to me. I generally find americanos too bitter. This may have to do with our personal tastes but it was a unanimous decision in our household that milk was essential! These pods were just as nice (if not nicer) than any other coffee we have tried to date and I will certainly purchase these capsules again.

Most of my friends and colleagues at work are coffee drinkers and I will certainly recommend they try Robert Roberts Nespresso Compatible Coffee Capsules. At break time in the office, we frequently discuss the best place to get a decent coffee and we even exchange tips and tricks for how to make the perfect cup at home. For all the many caffeine addicts out there, I think these pods are an intelligent and worthwhile investment!

Like most people on this trial I was very familiar with the Robert Roberts brand of tea and coffee before this. I had recently heard they were producing pods for the Nespresso but had not yet come across them in my supermarket .

I thought the packaging of the capsles was tidy and attractive and would be easy to identify on the shelf. The big drawback with Nespresso is accessibility to purchasing the pods so this would make a readily available alternative very appealing.

On the positives the flavour and aromas of all the capsules were very good and comparable with those I've had on nespresso. Intesities were good and as described. All cups had a lovely crema on top and were very enjoyable.

The negatives with me lay in the interraction of the pods with the machine.

1. None of the cups filled to the pre set levels of my machine when I used these capsules, I had to manully top them up.

2. Out of 13 capsules used so far 4 of them crumpled in the machine and got stuck.. I thought at first it was happening on the second cup in a row I was making as the machine had heated up but it also happened when making just one cup. So far this has happened on the intensity 7 and 9. Not yet on the 10 whether or not this is just coincidence Im unsure but I have used more of the 7 & 9. I asked my brother to try some out in his machine and he had the same problem with one capsule. My machine is the Krups U and automatically processes the capsules, his is a magimix citiz and is fully manual.

While the price and availability of these capsules make them an attractive alternative to nespresso pods the unreliability in the machine is offputting. It would also make them not cost effective. This issue alone would probably put me off buying them unless I was stuck for supplies.

Thank you so much received, my Capsules in the post & was very excited to try them. The packaging I feel is a little bulky but the quality of coffee, taste & handiness of the capsules more than makes up for it!!

The capsules fit perfectly into my Nespresso machine & give that lovely creamy foam proving the quality of the coffee.

I loved all 3 , particularly strength 7 as it is really smooth. Would love if they decided to bring out a "flavoured" capsule like vanilla or hazelnut.

My mum is a "coffee snob" :) & loves her coffee so no better person than to test them on. She loved them & thinks they are even nicer than the original capsules.

I would highly recommend Robert Roberts coffee capsules & am a complete convert now & will defintley be buying them with my weekly shop. The handiness of being able to buy them in store makes them even more appealing. Gone is the trek into town when you run out or the hazzle of having to buy a mimimum of 50 capsules online .

Thank you for choosing me to take part in the Robert Roberts trial - I really enjoyed this one, being a complete coffee addict.
I had heard of Robert Roberts before and was familiar with their ground filter coffee. I love the packaging of the capsules - the fact that they are not in a tube means they fit in my cupboard better & seem to take up less space. It is brilliant that these will be availble to buy in the supermarket with my weekly shopping meaning no delivery charge for online orders from Nespresso direct. I can buy what I need when I need them and not have to stock-pile until the next shipment or trip into town.
I started with the intensity 7 and I found it to be really smooth with no lingering aftertaste. They worked perfectly in my machine and left no mess. I wouldn't be fond of espresso strength coffee so these were just the perfect strength for me. The aroma of freshly ground coffee in my kitchen after making just one cup was lovely. SOLD - these are already on my shopping list.
Then I tried the intensity 9 and although the flavour was really nice, I found them slightly too strong for someone who likes a mug of milky coffee, so I added some frothy milk and had one of the nicest homemade cappucinos ever, so I would definately buy these but reserve them for lattes and cappucinos.
With the intensity 10, my friend who loves her espresso tried them and thought the flavour was really nice - very woody and intense. She has a machine that takes only ground coffee and prefered the flavour of the Robert Roberts capsule.

We currently have a Nespresso professional machine in work and I have to say that you would find it very difficult to spot the difference in the brands.
I would definatley recommend these to friends and family.

Oh the excitement finally someone else doing capsules. I has so happy to try them out and I must say I was trilled with the result the taste was fab and they fitted the machine perfect. This is a great product by Roberts and Roberts. I have used there coffee products before but these capsules are far the best. The packaging is great and packed nice and tidy . I tried all 3 strengths and the 7 was my favorite. I did try the 9 and 10 but like them as a long coffee 9. They will be on my shopping list from now on and great that you can buy them in dunnes say them there last week and great price too. I have being telling my family and friends and will continue too as they are just great and would recommend them to anyone as they taste fab. Thanks so much for selecting me for this trial, my husband and I are HUGE nespresso fans so this was a big test for us. I had heard of the Robert Roberts brand previously and have used their products in the past.
We recently relocated from Dublin to Donegal so we couldn't exactly pop in to BTs to top up on capsules when we ran out. As newly minted parents of a beautiful baby girl we run out quite frequently! To be able to pop into our local supermarket to buy some would be fantastic.
When buying nespresso capsules we usually go for the stronger blends. I was very excited to try out these blends to see if they could compare and to be honest they did not disappoint.
I have tried the 7, 9 and 10 intensity, 10 being my favourite. The coffee was rich and full of flavour with a gorgeous crema layer that could rival any nespresso coffee.

Unfortunately, I did encounter some problems with the capsules getting crumpled after the coffee was made. It did cause the machine to clog but a quick poke and it was free again.. the quality of the fabric used in the actual capsule seems to be a little less than those of nespresso capsules.
All things considered I would purchase these capsules again, especially if they were available in our local supermarket.

As a stay at home mum with a small baby coffee is one thing that gets me through the day so I was very excited to be part of this trial! I was aware of the Robert Roberts brand and the quality of coffee they produce so I was really excited when the coffee capsules arrived. The packaging is really nice and neat and colour coded similar to the alternative. Also, it's so handy that you can get these capsules in the supermarket, definitely much more convenient than ordering online. I started with the intensity 9 capsule which worked perfectly in my machine (as did all the capsules!) however I found that the cup didn't fill as much as a nespresso capsule would fill it & I found the intensity 9 to be too bitter for my taste. I moved on to he intensity 7 which I found great as a breakfast coffee & I am now having two per cup each morning (needed as my little fella starts teething!).

If I'm honest I would recommend these capsules for their convenience and accessibility but I would still prefer the original nespresso capsules for their range of intensities and flavors.

“One coffee a day – keeps mum at bay!”....that’s my motto. Although I may only have one coffee a day – it is a very important part of my day. I have been very particular with the Nespresso capsule I use – although they are a little expensive and not convenient to purchase I found comfort that it was my little treat.

I was really excited to be chosen to test the new Robert Roberts Coffee Capsules.

Day 1: I tried the intensity 7 and loved it. I love a latté coffee – so this insensity was perfect with some frothy milk. The blend was perfect, it really was a delicious coffee.

Day 2: I went for intensity 9 today. There was a gorgeous smell from the Nespresso machine with this capsule. This capsule was really nice – you could notice the slight increase in intensity which was nicely subtle. I would definately have this one again as a pick me up.

Day 3: Intensity 10!...WOW....it really is “intense”. Even with my frothy milk, I found this intensity just a little too strong for me. Although there was a nice taste off it – I just found it too intense for me.

The Robert Roberts capsules are great, I love that you can pop to your local supermarket to pick these up – so convenient. The coffee tastes amazing – my favourite was Intensity 7, I really loved it. I had my friends around, who also tested the capsules and they agreed these capsules are great. I think Intensity 7 was the overall winner. I think the price is very reasonable, considering that it saves you the trek into town or having to place an order online and pay for delivery. The capsules are very neat and worked perfectly in my machine.

This range is amazing and I am definately a convert to Robert Roberts Coffee Capsules - they will definately be on my shopping list from now on.

Thank you for letting me take this trial – it was so great.
