There are certain milestones in our children's lives which we anticipate from the very moment they arrive into our lives.

From their word to their first step, we picture these events and can't imagine anything spoiling them.

So perhaps it's only fair Hollywood star, Ryan Reynolds, decided not to reveal all the specific details about his daughter's big moment...until now.

Speaking to Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show, the Green Lantern star acknowledged that while baby James has indeed reached a very special milestone, it's not all as it seems.

Revealing his nine-month-old has recently started speaking, Ryan, who also referred to a recent upsetting decision in the same interview, told a captivated studio audience: "She's saying mama!"

However, if James' mum, Blake Lively, was beginning to feel in any way smug over her daughter's choice words, her husband of three years brought her back down to earth with a bang,

Opening up about the milestone, the ever-mischievous Ryan, revealed: "My wife doesn't realise though that she calls me mama, too,"

Eager not to burst his wife's bubble, 38-year-old Ryan joked that he had to have a private word with his little girl so as to avoid any disappointment.

"I had to literally sit James down and tell her penises don't work that way...she understands. She gets it," he laughed.

We're sure Blake will get over the shock revelation eventually!
