You can have everything planned in advance, down to the very last detail, but you can never predict what's going to happen until you get into that labour ward.
Former S Club 7 star Tina Barrett can certainly attest to this now, three months after welcoming son Roman.
Introducing her son to the world in the latest edition of OK! magazine, the 40-year-old recalled the dramatic details of the birth.
“The birth wasn’t progressing as it should. The midwife wasn’t sure if Roman was stuck or if the umbilical cord had become tangled, but they could tell he was getting distressed,” she explained.
Tina eventually underwent a C-section – something which she admits she was unhappy about.
“I felt quite disappointed, because I wanted to do it all naturally. It turned out Roman was struggling to get out because he was quite big,” she said.

Once she was introduced to her little one, however, the details of the birth faded into insignificance for the new mother.
“I know I’m biased, but…I’ve had people stop me in the street to say how cute he is, it makes me very proud,” she added.
