Yesterday a fan tweeted at Sarah Hyland asking if the actress' character Haley Dunphy on Modern Family is bisexual – and they got their answer!
“I don't know what the writers would say? But I confirm,” the 26-year-old sitcom star replied in a tweet to her 1.6M Twitter followers.
Haley’s romantic entanglements have continually been a focal point of the ABC show, as her long-suffering mum Claire and dad Phil try to ensure her partners are people they approve of.

So far in Modern Family Haley has only dated men, but there’s still plenty of time for the character to date a woman! The Emmy Award-winning series was renewed for two more seasons in May this year, for a total of 44 more episodes.
The show already features a pair of gay fathers, Mitchell Pritchett (played by Jesse Tyler Ferguson) and Cameron Tucker (played by Eric Stonestreet), who are Haley's uncles as well.
Beyond breaking news about the critically-acclaimed sitcom, Sarah also nailed her Halloween costume this year.
The Screen Actors Guild Award-winner dressed up as Dustin from Stranger Things with Bachelorette’s Wells Adams, who went as the enigmatic Eleven. Sarah shared the adorable photo with her 5.4M Insta followers.
Fans loved the costume, as well as Sarah’s revelation on Twitter about Haley’s sexual orientation.
The fan who originally questioned Haley’s sexuality replied, “Thank you so much, you're a real sweetheart (this literally made my day).”
“Ever since I realized I was bisexual I got bi vibes from Haley, put it in the show!” another tweeted enthusiastically.
The writers of the Modern Family still haven’t responded to Sarah’s tweet.
