Being a parent is magical and we wouldn't change our little ones for the world.

That being said, it brings its fair share of experiences that pre-baby would have horrified us.

Parenting definitely gives us a completely different outlook on life, and superhuman powers to get through some of the most unpredictable situations with our kids.

As always, tennis star and mum, Serena Williams kept it real on Twitter by sharing a less than glamorous parenting moment with little Olympia.

"Kids humble us. The other day on a flight home Olympia insisted on running up and down the aisle and when I finally got her to sit still, she threw up all over me," recalled the tennis champ.

"#ThisMama would love to hear your stories of motherhood...even ones like this! Share and tag them with #ThisMama," she asked her followers.

Cue a flurry of parenting tales that are all too relatable, and will have you nodding along with a chuckle.

This adorable little tot managed to get into red food colouring, but gave her mum an awful fright.

"My daughter loved to take everything out of the pantry and put it all back in. #ThisMama came back in the room to her looking like this and the 3 minutes it took me to figure out she’d gotten into the red food colouring and wasn’t bleeding profusely were the longest 3 minutes of my life," the mum said.

More followers detailed their horror stories on planes with their children. This poor mum had to endure a sick three-year-old who covered herself and her youngest in vomit.

Adding that she was only shortly into the journey, she chose to laugh because the only other option was to cry - that's a reaction we are all too familiar with.

Of course, we cannot forget the dads.

This father had a memorable family dinner that he won't be forgetting in a hurry.

He said: "Not a ma story but a pa one. When my oldest was 5-6, we drove for hours to meet family for dinner at a nice restaurant. Had dinner, and his grandma offered him dessert. He said no and I said "there's always room for dessert". Shortly [after], the poor kid said "no not always" and hurled. I learned."

For those who have little ones that are train obsessed; this one is for you.

A mum documented a tale on the thread, along with a fabulous photo of her four-year-old's train stylishly caught in her hair.

Hilariously, she wrote: "3 years ago I was reading ‘The Little Engine That Could’ book to my 4 year old and he decided my head made the perfect mountain to put his motorized train on. It literally took 0.003 seconds to get jammed in my hair. On the plus side, it helped remove some gray hair."

We've all been in scenarios likes these and they never fail to surprise us.

Love or loath it; it comes with the title of being mum or dad, and goes to prove that parenting is just one giant learning curve.

One day, when the vomit dries and our babies become young adults, these times will make fond memories.

As for now, all we can do is just throw our arms up at these moments and laugh them off.
