Buckle in for a wild ride, mums, because Seth Meyers just became a dad for the second time to little Axel Stahl and the story is INCREDIBLE!
Apparently, his wife Alexi Ashe's contractions came very quickly during the birth of their first son, Ashe, and they were worried she'd give birth in the car on their way to the hospital. However, they made it in time with about 20 minutes to spare.
"That's so normal compared to what happened yesterday," Seth shared on his show, Late Night with Seth Meyers, on Monday.
On Sunday, it became obvious that Alexi would need to go to the hospital that day. The family had called a car, with Seth's sister-in-law Ariel set to look after two-year-old Ashe in the meantime.
"And we basically get to the steps of our building...and my wife just says 'I can't get in the car. I'm going to have the baby right now. The baby is coming,' " Seth recalled.
"And I looked at my wife, and the only way I can describe how my wife looked was, she looked like someone who was hiding a baby in a pair of sweatpants."
He said laughingly, "It was like somebody was trying to sneak a baby on a plane."
Alexi laid down in the lobby, and Seth and their family and friends formed a semicircle around her. They undressed the mum to discover that the head of the baby was already out, so Seth called 911.
"I called 911 and over the course of a minute conversation, I said, ‘We’re about to have a baby... we’re having a baby... we had a baby," the 44-year-old revealed to an incredulous audience.

The former Saturday Night Live star applauded his wife's placid demeanour, saying, "So, my wife basically takes our baby and puts him on her chest and is incredibly calm."
The lobby was then flooded with members of the fire department and NYPD, while the doorman ensured that the apartment's residents wouldn't come into the makeshift delivery room. A fireman even cut the umbilical cord!
The mum, dad, and their little one were eventually rushed to hospital in an ambulance, and both Alexi and their baby boy are doing well.
Seth praised the 'incredible outpouring of kindness' from his neighbours, as the family just moved into the building at the end of the year and still didn't know many of the other residents very well.

As well, the comedian thanked the doorman, NYPD, firemen, doctor, medical staff, EMTs, and their family and friends for their help. And, of course, he thanked his wife, who he said is 'really amazing'.
The father-of-two announced that his youngest son is named Axel Strahl, with his middle name being a tribute to his wife's grandparents, whose surname was Strahl.
They were Holocaust survivors and met in an Austrian hospital the day after being liberated from concentration camps.
