Sometimes our other half needs a few pointers in the bedroom; but we would hope that he knows where everything is. According to new research, this may not be the case!
Results from a poll carried out by gynaecological cancer charity The Eve Appeal revealed that 50 percent of men are unable to point out the vagina on a diagram.
The research was carried out ahead of Gynaecological Cancer Awareness Month, across 2,000 people. Half of the respondents were men, and half of those men were unable to locate the all-important vagina!
And it gets worse, mums. Furthermore, 17 percent of the male respondents admitted to knowing nothing about gynaecological health issues, branding them a ‘female issue’.
We shouldn’t be feeling too smug, either. In the same poll last year, a whopping 44 percent of women couldn’t locate the vagina on a diagram, either!
In light of these shocking results, The Eve Appeal are endeavouring to raise awareness of gynaecological issues – among men and women.
Commenting on the results, the organisation’s chief executive, Athena Lamnisos said: “We know from the many calls that we receive at The Eve Appeal from men, that they can play a vital role in identifying the symptoms of gynaecological cancer, prompting their partners to visit the GP.
“Early diagnosis really is key and can save lives. This is not about having better sex – it’s about men helping women to look after their health.
“Gynae awareness and taboo-busting are all of our responsibility, men and women alike.”
