We all know that having a baby places a huge strain on your life, and in particular the relationships with the people closest to you.

From dealing with feeding routines to struggling through sleepless nights, it is not surprising that it can play havoc on not just you as a person but on your marriage, something singer Carrie Underwood knows about all too well.

The country star gave birth to her first child, Isaiah Michael Fischer, in February of this year, and has opened up about just how much her marriage changed after he arrived.

“Your marriage does change a lot when you have a baby — it’s a whole new dynamic. Neither one of us had really been baby people or been around a ton of babies. We’re learning together,” she told People magazine.

The 32-year-old admitted that it’s easy to lose yourself as a couple, confessing that with so much going on it is hard to focus on your relationship.

Speaking about the number of high-profile breakups recently, the mum-of-one said: “It makes you want to take stock of your own marriage. Like, ‘What do you need? Are you happy? What can I do to make things better?”

While she has yet to try it, the Something in the Water singer has admitted that she would consider therapy if they needed to: "Definitely, yeah. We’ve never done it, but even if you don’t necessarily quote-unquote think you ‘need’ it, it might just be good to have that space to talk things out.”

"I feel like Mike and I treat it like a partnership, which is a really good thing for both of us. I’m not the maid and I’m not the cook, you know what I mean? I do those things when I do them because I like to and I want to. You just figure out your roles and the things that each of you do better, and you give and take," she explained.
