Whether you choose to breastfeed your baby or not, mums all over should never feel embarrassed or ashamed to do so in public, with one singer making a stand for nursing mothers everywhere.

X Factor runner-up Rebecca Ferguson, who recently welcomed her third child, Arabella, has made her feelings on breastfeeding in public very clear

“I think it’s quite hard as a breastfeeding mum because I feel like there’s a lot of shame involved which is so odd because it’s so natural,” she told the Liverpool Echo.

Revealing that she wears loose-fitting clothing so she can feed her daughter without hassle, the Nothing’s Real But Love singer confessed that it hasn’t been easy.

"You do it because it’s built in a woman, every woman. You fend for your kids and you do what you’ve got to do,” she told the publication.

Talking about being a single mum to three children – Lillie May, who is ten, nine-year-old Karl and Arabella – the 29-year-old told Strictly Come Dancings Tess Daly that it’s something “women don’t like to talk about”.

When her partner left while she was still pregnant with her third child, the I Hope hitmaker set up a website, Rebecca Ferguson and Friends, to help others who find themselves in a similar situation.

“I felt so much pain when I was pregnant and I thought there must be other women feeling like that too but they didn’t feel like they could talk about it. That’s why I set up the website,” she explained.

“It’s something that’s quite private but at the same time I’d like to think I’ve helped other women by opening up about it,” she finished up by saying.
