Our hearts go out to this much-loved country singer and his family as they have struggled to come to terms with the loss of their newborn baby daughter, Rumor Rain, in recent weeks.
33-year-old Randy Rogers, frontman of country band, the Randy Rogers Band, spoke to People magazine this week and recalled the short life of his youngest child.
The father, who shares two other children with his wife Chelsea, says he has been left understandably heartbroken by the passing of his little girl, who had been diagnosed with nonketotic hyperglycinemia and lived a tragically short six days following her delivery
Attempting to explain the circumstances surrounding his child's birth and passing, Randy said: "She was put on a feeding tube pretty early on because she couldn't eat or swallow, then she decided to stop breathing and we had to put her on a vent."
Expressing the frustration he felt at the times of his child's diagnosis, 33-year -old Randy admits: "It was heart-wrenching and gruelling not knowing what was wrong."
Explaining that both himself and wife Chelsea carry the same recessed gene, the singer laments the tragic coincidence and misfortune, saying: "The odds are astromincal."
Less than a month on from Rumor's death, the brave father now attempts to focus on the positives.
With remarkable poise and dignity, he says: "Now because my daughter died and we now know we carry this gene, no one else in our family will have to have that happen to them and science is to thank for that."
Randy and Chelsea plan to have more children with the help of IVF and genetic testing.
Wishing the brave parents all the very best on the rest of their journey.
