The topic of asking a woman when she is going to start a family has been in the headlines a lot recently, so we’re surprised to hear about the latest controversy kicking off on social media.
Chat show host Wendy Williams has come in for major criticism today for telling singer Nicole Scherzinger that she has wasted her ‘good years’ in which to have children.
Former X Factor star Scherzinger appeared on The Wendy Williams Show this week, and many viewers were outraged when Wendy brought up the subject of the star’s seven-year on-off relationship with Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton.
“The last time we talked about you in Hot Topics, I was talking about the seven-year relationship you had with that race car driver Lewis Hamilton ending. And I was saying – truth – because you’re 37, and I was like, this is a woman who spent seven years of her life breaking up and getting back together,” began Wendy.
In a move that angered many viewers, she continued: “Poor us, because they [men] can have babies whenever they want. You know what I mean? Those are seven years you can never get back. He was really wealthy, and I was rooting for you, girl. So I’m sorry to hear about that.”
Nicole handled the awkward exchange well, laughing off Wendy’s comments before going on to state her belief that ‘everything happens for a reason’. However, after saying that seven years was 'a really long time', Wendy appeared to make things worse by pointing downwards and adding: "And the good years down here."

@ENews as much as people dislike @WendyWilliams opinions...she has a point. Women have a window of opportunity.either jump thru or close it

@ENews Why does she have to be so hateful toward people? She does nothing but bring people down.

While everyone knows that TV hosts have to ask the tough questions, the general consensus on Twitter is that Wendy was out of line.
“Why does she have to be so hateful toward people? She does nothing but bring people down,” wrote one user, while others accused her of ‘disempowering women’.
What are your thoughts?
