John Legend says he feels ‘lucky’ to have had the option to use IVF, to conceive his daughter Luna with wife Chrissy.
The Love Me Now singer opened up about the couple’s fertility struggle in a new interview, with Cosmopolitan.
“I think it’s especially difficult when you can’t conceive naturally,” John said, of the baby-making process.
He and Chrissy previously revealed that they underwent IVF to have Luna, now 16 months old.
“You want to feel like everything’s working properly, and want everything to be perfect; but sometimes, it’s not,” he added.
“We’re lucky that we’re living in an age where we can conceive in other ways. IVF brought us Luna, and hopefully it will bring us a few more awesome kids, too.”
John’s comments come just weeks after Chrissy admitted that, while she would be nervous of experiencing postnatal depression again, she is considering expanding her brood.
The 31-year-old has been extremely candid about her mental health battle, and recently won praise for broaching another subject: drinking problems.
In another issue of Cosmo, Chrissy revealed that she had made a conscious effort to change her drinking habits, amid concerns over how it was affecting her health and lifestyle.
John, who has been married to Chrissy for four years, said he has been nothing but supportive of his wife’s choices.
“When she was thinking about how she wanted to drink less, we talked about it,” he said.
“I just want to support her. I want her to be happy and to live the fullest, most awesome life she can – and I want us to do it together.
“Whenever she sets her mind to anything, I always tell her, ‘I want to support you and help you do it.’”
It’s not hard to see why they are America’s sweethearts!
