As we get closer to May’s abortion referendum, both sides have been heavily involved in canvassing and campaigning.
Both the pro-life and pro-choice sides have been extremely active in the run-up to the referendum which is due to take place on May 25.
Sonya Lennon revealed that her 13-year-old daughter was approached by one of the members of the ‘Vote No’ campaign, who want the eighth amendment to stay in place.

She wrote, “My gorgeous 13yo daughter was stopped, in her school uniform by a placard-wielding No campaigner.”
She continued, “‘Do you want to see babies killed?’ The campaigner asked.”
Sonya explained that her daughter remained calm in her response. The teenager wasn’t afraid to share her own personal opinion with the man. “My daughter responded ‘No one wants to see babies killed, but I stand for choice’,” Sonya revealed.

The doting mum added, “So proud of her mind and spirit.”
The tweet has received over 5,000 likes with many praising the young girl for not being afraid to express her opinion.
“It is outrageous to see young teenagers targeted in this way. What a brave young lady she is,” one woman shared.
Another mum added, “I have a 12-year-old daughter and a nearly 14-year-old son who think exactly like your daughter. The future is bright.”
The referendum on repealing the Eighth Amendment will take place on Friday, May 25. Irish citizens will be asked if they want to repeal the Eighth Amendment or not.
Article 40.3.3 reads:
"The State acknowledges the right to life of the unborn and, with due regard to the equal right to life of the mother, guarantees in its laws to respect, and, as far as practicable, by its laws to defend and vindicate that right."
