It might be fifth time around for singer Sophie Ellis-Bextor but that doesn't mean she has necessarily ruled out adding to her brood.

The singer recently revealed that she is pregnant with her fifth child and added that while she already has quite a brood, she's only 'probably' considering calling it a day after baby number five.

She also said that no one in the family knows the gender of the newest arrival, due in January, but that, even after four boys, she wasn't hoping for anything other than a healthy baby.

Responding to comments that repeatedly asked her if she was hoping for a girl, she said: "I am fortunate to have four happy healthy kids already who happen to all be boys. Sometimes I have folk say well-intentioned but truly ridiculous things to me about having the same gender. Of course, all I am hoping is my new baby is happy and healthy too so I’m trying to come up with a good retort to these daft comments. I’m sure my kids know I’ve never wanted any of them to be anyone other than who they are."

“We don’t know what we’re having. They [her children] are excited," she told ITV's Lorraine. She added that the excitement element is still diminishing ever-so-slightly for some of her kids.

“I think they slightly roll their eyes, like, ‘Oh, another one’."

The singer’s due date, January 11th, has turned out to be the same day her new album launches.

There is nothing slowing down the 39-year-old as she has continuously juggled her singing career with mothering her full house - she is preparing to tour the UK and Ireland as well as launching a new album, so it's fair to say that she has her hands full.

"I think I’ll probably call it a day [after this baby]. I think five is quite a lot.”

Sophie and her husband, The Feeling guitarist Richard Jones, have been happily married since 2005. Their growing family consists of Sonny, 13, Kit, 9, Ray, 5, and Jesse, 3.

“After I had my first and second children, I was often asked, ‘Are you having another?’ Now, after four, it’s very telling that I’m getting ‘Are you stopping now?’” she added.
