Following the actress's appearance at the Tony Awards in New York on Saturday, sources revealed to US Weekly that the much-loved British actress is due her first child with musician husband, Marcus Mumford.
Having fuelled rumours that she was currently expecting by wearing loose fitting ensembles at public appearances, the 30-year-old Oscar-nominated star sent the rumour mill into overdrive at the weekend when she posed for paparazzi in a strapless oxblood coloured gown which appeared to expertly conceal her burgeoning bump.
Opening up about the speculation, a source close to the couple revealed: "They weren't planning on announcing, but she hasn't stopped working. Everybody around her is being very supportive."
The couple, who tied the knot in 2012, are said to share a stunning home which would perfectly suit the arrival of a tiny tot.
Looking to the future, family friend Sienna Miller, revealed: "It’s sort of idyllic. Marcus can headline Glastonbury and Carey can be nominated for however many Oscars, and then they come back to their farm. It’s an amazing balance they’ve managed to strike. I can’t wait for a little baby to come along!"
