Everyone knows how demanding parenting is, and we simply can’t be with our babies for every second of the day – as much as we would like to. In interesting news, one company has unveiled a product that can apparently help busy parents-on-the-go immeasurably – but it has caused quite some controversy online.

Babocush, a seat specially designed to make babies feel ‘held’ when their parents are not around to do it themselves, has split opinion around the world.

The baby seat with a twist was revealed in a 30-second-long clip on Facebook, showing an infant rocking calmly by himself. According to the site, Babocush has been specifically designed to mimic the head-over-the-shoulder position, and with vibrations and simulated heartbeat sounds contained within, it’s being hailed as the next best thing to holding your little one yourself.

“Very few parents have enough time in the day for their baby to constantly lie against their chest, and many of us struggle to provide a safe and comfortable alternative,” reads the product description, which goes on to list Babocush’s impressive benefits.

From relieving the discomfort of colic and reflux to helping to prevent flat head syndrome and even provide tummy-time safely, the Babocush has proven to be a very interesting invention for Facebook’s parenting community.

With over 10 million video views in just two weeks, it’s clear that everyone is talking about Babocush – but it seems to have really divided followers.

Many have complained that the seat takes away that crucial parent-baby bond, with one woman commenting: “Really, baby won’t hear your heartbeat, have your smell or feel your warmth. They are tiny for such a short time. Make the most of it - cleaning will be there tomorrow. These are very precious and rewarding moments.”

Meanwhile others have hit back, with another writing: “You all must have your child strapped to you 24/7 when you cook - which is dangerous; going for a poop - which is slightly strange; or you must sleep with them – again. highly dangerous. Because the way you're going on, about people that buy this are neglecting their child, is ridiculous. What about multiple births? You can't constantly hold three, four and five babies all the time.”
