By now you will no doubt have heard about the infamous ‘jersey snatching’ furore that took place in Wembley stadium last weekend, whereby a mum appeared to take a football jersey from a devastated young fan.

While there has been outcry over the incident ever since, with many calling for the woman involved to return the jersey to the little boy, this week he received a very special surprise that has got him smiling again.

Eight-year-old Ted Dockray was this week presented with a signed jersey by Jermaine Beckford, the Preston North End player who threw the jersey into the crowd last weekend as a ‘goodwill gesture’.

Devoted football fan Ted was grinning from ear-to-ear as he posed for photographs beside one of his sporting idols.

Meanwhile, the mum-of-two who was seen taking the jersey has insisted that ‘her side of the story will soon come out’. The jersey, which had later been seen advertised for £1,500 on Gumtree, has also disappeared from the website.

We are happy that this little boy’s happiness has been restored.
