Stars around the world have been paying tribute to the late Ozzy Osbourne.
Yesterday (July 22), it was announced that the heavy metal singer had passed away at the age of 76.
Ozzy’s death comes just over two weeks after his final on-stage performance at Birmingham's Villa Park on July 5. During the concert, Ozzy and his band Black Sabbath returned to the stage for their first live performance since 2005.
In a statement confirming his death, his wife Sharon and children wrote: “It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning.”
They added: “He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time. Sharon, Jack, Kelly, Aimee and Louis.”
Following the news of Ozzy’s passing, many legends from the world of music and showbiz have been taking the opportunity to pay their respects.
In a message on Instagram, singer-songwriter Elton John penned: "So sad to hear the news of @ozzyosbourne passing away. He was a dear friend and a huge trailblazer who secured his place in the pantheon of rock gods - a true legend. He was also one of the funniest people I’ve ever met. I will miss him dearly. To Sharon and the family, I send my condolences and love.”
On his Instagram stories, retired footballer David Beckham shared a photo of the late Ozzy and added: “So sad to see Ozzy leave us. Thank you for entertaining us. Sending love to Sharon, the kids & the family.”
Along with a photo of Ozzy from his farewell show, Queen legend Brian May also wrote: “So sad to hear of Ozzie's passing. His last appearance at Villa Park was a glorious way to say goodbye - the love in that place for him was gigantic. I'm grateful I was able to have a few quiet words with him after the show. And happy to know he passed peacefully with his loving family close by. But the world will miss Ozzie's unique presence and fearless talent.”
Ozzy is survived by his wife Sharon and his five children - Jessica, Louis, Aimee, Kelly and Jack.
