Met Eireann Status Orange weather warning is to remain in place as the country experiences temperatures as low as -6C.
AA Roadwatch has asked road users to take extreme caution when driving on the roads this morning.
This morning will start very cold and frosty. Frost may linger in parts of the northwest and midlands. Barry Aldworth of AA Roadwatch stated, “Generally speaking you are going to see traffic be that bit busier on most of the key routes across the country - in part because of the return of school traffic.”
A low-temperature warning has been issued for Munster, Inland areas of Leinster, Connacht and counties Cavan, Monaghan and Donegal.

Commuters have been asked to take extreme caution when travelling this morning due to patches of severe frost in some areas, especially in the Midlands and northwest.
The warning will stay in place until approximately 10 am, with temperatures rising to as high as 5 degrees in the afternoon.
