With the beginning of a new season comes a range of exciting new trends to choose from, and we have picked five of the best to help you get your Autumn/Winter wardrobe in gear.

1. Velvet

This A/W is all about texture, and velvet is top of the trend list. While those jackets and ankle boots may not be too practical for everyday wear, a velvet dress will grab attention on a night out.

Tip: For the more faint-hearted, try channelling the trend in your accessories, in the form of a tote bag or a bow-tie.

2. Faux fur

Fur is as synonymous with autumn as the Pumpkin Spice Latte. Embrace the trend with an all-over faux fur coat, or keep the cold out with faux fur trimming and stoles.

3. Bold prints

From oversized houndstooth to oriental florals, geometrics to leopard; this season’s prints are about being bold and fearless with your style choices. Channel the trend in a striking coat, a statement Saturday night dress, or some wear-anywhere trousers.

Tip: For anyone intimidated by this trend, try balancing out your print with basics in neutral colours.

4. Red

If there is one investment colour of the season, it's red. As well as tying in with the traditional seasonal colour palette, a vibrant red will channel the attention-grabbing vibe of the new style season.

5. Gothic

This is a much more romantic take on the trend than you might be thinking of! Naturally, black is the base colour, with dark berry shades and greens complimenting perfectly. Victorian-inspired pieces in lace, chiffon and tulle fabrics give a soft, elegant take on the traditional Gothic look.
