No doubt you will remember Chontel Duncan, the Australian fitness expert and blogger who made waves online with her pregnant kick-boxing and super-toned pregnancy figure.

Well, she has issued a special message to all those criticising her and her social media posts: ‘lay off’.

Chontel, who recently welcomed son Jeremiah, spoke out after the latest controversy surrounding a selfie she took with her then 13-day-old baby.

In the photo, Chontel can be seen holding little Jeremiah with one hand and her phone with the other, and it appears as though the tot does not have any support for his neck.

Chontel came in for major criticism over the image, with one person branding her ‘narcissistic’, and another exclaiming: “Baby’s neck…[a] newborn baby can’t hold his neck by himself. I [can’t] believe it’s more important to you to have a good body than hold your baby’s neck [sic].”

The new mother went on to address the ‘haters’ by explaining that little Jeremiah has actually been lifting his own head.

“For that second that he did so, I just happened to have caught it on camera, before he then laid his head back down on my chest. Newborns can lift their own heads up, it’s not me standing there with his head flicked back, shooting away…So have faith, people,” she wrote.

In light of the wave of attention – both positive and negative – that has come Chontel’s way in recent times, she was invited to appear on The Morning Show with her husband and baby. She used this opportunity to send a strong message out to anyone who might be taking issue with her social media posts.

“People just need to lay off me a bit more. He [Jeremiah] keeps lifting his head, and nurses did say when he first came out that he was quite strong,” she said.

The fitness fanatic added: “Whatever comes my way, I’ll back myself up and just show people that you don’t need to hide.”
