Gordon Ramsay has vowed not to speak to fellow celebrity chef Jamie Oliver again, until he has apologised to his wife.
The F Word star has said that recent comments made by Jamie, about his family, stung both him and wife Tana after what has been a ‘s**t year’.
In an interview with the Radio Times, Gordon referred to comments Jamie made about their rivalry while chatting to The Sun.
Jamie was quoted as saying: “He’s [Ramsay] got four kids and I’ve got five kids, and I don’t want to be slagging off some kids’ dad on telly. It’s not nice.”
This comment, coming a year after Gordon and Tana lost their fifth child, hit a nerve.
“Jamie turned around and said, ‘I’ve got five kids, he’s got four kids.’ To judge someone else’s family on the amount of kids you have – that’s…,” he began.
“Boys will always fight and butt heads, but Tana was mortified. I mean really mortified.”
While Jamie’s comment may have been off-the-cuff, it seems it caused a lot of hurt after what was a very sensitive time for the Ramsay family.
Tana suffered a miscarriage in June last year, with Gordon describing it as the most ‘devastating’ time.
“Thankfully we’re through the worst now. It could happen at any time, to anyone,” he said, following the news.
“It has brought us all so much closer. You realise how lucky you are, and you reflect on what you have, how fortunate you are with your remaining children, and you remind yourself of what you’ve got. It’s made the family unit even tighter.”
Gordon and Tana are parents to 19-year-old Megan, 17-year-old twins Holly and Jack, and 15-year-old Matilda.
Gordon didn’t hold back in his criticism of Jamie elsewhere in his latest interview, criticising the star’s apparent double-standards.
“It’s all very well to spout off now about sugar tax and supermarkets. None of that was spoken about when he was label-slapping with Sainsbury’s for 10 years,” he added.
