Gardaí have revealed that a ‘juvenile male’ has been arrested in relation to a shooting in Athlone.
They shared that the young man is currently detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against The State Act, 1939.
The shooting occurred at approximately 9:40 pm on Saturday night.
It is understood that a man in his 20s was shot in his lower leg. He has since been released from the Midland Regional Hospital at Tullamore, where he was treated for minor injuries.
The crime scene has been sealed off as Gardaí carry out an investigation.
