The best luxury bathtubs

A luxurious bathtub can transform a basic space into a chic and stylish room. Here are some beautifully designed bathtubs to inspire you.

For her beachfront getaway in Bahia, in her native Brazil, Valentino PR consultant Charlene de Ganay designed a thatch-roofed master bath open to the surrounding beachfront and garden. The discreet sunken tub and open shower are both paved in polished cement; the carved-wood towel rack is Balinese.

The low-slung Spoon tub by G.P. Benedini for Agape is placed before a wall of windows that offers stunning views of the woods and ravine outside the Toronto home of designers George Yabu and Glenn Pushelberg. The vanity is made of carved rain-forest marble, the sink and tub fittings are by Dombracht, and the floor is paved with Portuguese limestone.

A bath in a Florida holiday home, designed by Robert Couturier, features a resin Paris tub by the Water Monopoly with wall-mounted Etoile fittings by Waterworks; the walls are sheathed with Metropol Glass tiles by Urban Archeology.

For the master bath of a house that French stage designer and director Jean-Pascal Levy-Trumet built in a suburban Paris neighbourhood, the dramatic egg-shaped concrete bathtub was custom-fitted to his body. The walls are sheathed in sheet metal, and the light fixture is from the 1950s.

Striped wallpaper and a claw-foot bathtub lend an old-world feel to the master bath of a young family’s London residence designed by Italian decorators Laura Sartori Rimini and Robert Peregalli. The map engravings are 18th century, and the floor is tiled in marble.
