The Celebrity Dad of the Year awards were accompanied by some controversy this year, but thankfully the same cannot be said of the Celebrity Grandparent of the Year awards this week.
The event, held in celebration of National Grandparents Day this coming Sunday, bestowed the coveted title on broadcaster and reality TV star Vanessa Feltz.
The 53-year-old, who is a mother-of-two and a grandmother to daughter Allegra’s 20-month-old son Zeke, jokingly described herself as the tot’s “servant and slave”.
Acknowledging the honour today, the former Celebrity Big Brother star said: “I’ve never felt anything like it, and the best thing is there’s no limit on it. If I have 10 grandchildren, I would love them all as ferociously.”
“The love has flooded in in this complete, boundless way. It’s hard to describe, but it’s a completely unconditional, overwhelming tidal wave of love. All I want to do is make the world a better place so that he can go off and have a good life,” she added.
As for Vanessa’s plans for celebrating her win? She’s going to take on the role of house chef and cook a family lunch!
Vanessa beat off some stiff competition from the likes of Mary Berry and Caitlyn Jenner in the poll.
