If it’s good news you’re looking for this evening, we have just what you need.

Thanks to the generosity of the public, Shauntelle Tynan will get ‘a chance of life’ after exceeding her target of €500K for cancer treatment.

The news comes just days after Shauntelle, 18, took to YouTube to share an emotionally-charged message, appealing for help in her battle with multi-system Langerhans cell histiocytosis.

Shauntelle was diagnosed with the rare condition back in May 2015, and the only treatment available for her specific case is in Texas Children’s Hospital, USA.

With no Government support for her treatment (apparently, she does not qualify for the HSE’s Treatment Abroad Scheme), Shauntelle, or Shan, issued a desperate plea for assistance.

Incredibly, just two days after posting her appeal, Shauntelle has not only hit, but exceeded the target of €500K; indeed, the figure on her Go Fund Me page (link here) currently stands at over €609K – and counting.

Taking to Facebook to comment on the news, Shauntelle was delighted and extremely grateful.

“A video will be up soon, but I just wanted to say thank you so much to everyone for all of the support! The last 38 hours has been a place of love, and the people of Ireland have truly come together to help me get better, and for that I am thankful!” she wrote.

“I now have a true chance at beating this, and it is all down to all who shared, commented and donated. I am so excited for my little brother and sister to come home from school, to hear that I have made enough to go to Texas!”
