Here at MummyPages, we happily admit to being obsessed with The Crown. We already know there'll be a third season - and that actress Olivia Coleman will take over from Clare Foy as Queen Elizabeth II - but what we also know is that it's not just us who find it a little strange that quite a few of the real-life members of The Royal Family are still living their lives off-screen as their stories get re-told on-screen.

Reports have suggested that we're going to get quite a few more seasons, which means that as time goes on, we'll see more and more current members of the Royal Family portrayed in the Netflix show. And this could include Kate Middleton, Prince William and the soon-to-be-married Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

And happily, for all Markle fans, it does seem she'd be welcome to appear in the series when the show eventually catches up to the present day.

The executives of Left Bank (the production company behind the hit-series) discussed the dilemma of running a series based on real-life, highly significant figures at Jerusalem's INTV Conference this week, especially when those people are so beloved by the public.

And as to who might play Markle? For Suzanne Mackie, creative director of Left Bank, the answer is obvious - Markle herself.

"She can play herself," she said. Well, it IS an obvious answer given the excellent acting capabilities of the Suits star, but alas, it isn't to be as the soon-to-be official member of the Royal Family has decided to step away from that era of her career, and move on to the next phase of her life, focusing on the things that matter to her the most.

What’s been really exciting, as we talk about this as the transition out of my career... is that the causes that have been very important to me, I can focus even more energy on," she said last year, during the couples' first joint-interview on the BBC

"I don’t see it as giving anything up," she added. "I just see it as a change. It’s a new chapter. And keep in mind I’ve been working on my show for seven years. We were very fortunate to have that sort of longevity on a series. For me, once we hit the 100 episode marker, I thought, I have ticked this box and I feel really proud of the work we’ve done there and now it’s time to work as a team with [Harry]."

Wouldn't be amazing though? Hey, we can always dream...
