In the States, Thanksgiving is a day to be grateful for your blessings – and we reckon New Yorker Terrice Thomas is just thankful for her daughter’s safe arrival into the world.

Terrice was on the way to the hospital yesterday, with her husband Austin, when they realised that their baby just wasn’t going to hold out.

Brave Terrice wound up giving birth to the couple’s daughter at the side of the highway in Yonkers, amidst the chaotic holiday traffic.

Baby Taliah was born in the front seat of her parents’ car, with emergency services arriving on the scene shortly after, to cut the cord and transport Mum and Baby to the local hospital.

Recalling the dramatic events to local media source WABC, Terrice said: “We pulled over, he called 911, they started to walk him through what to do, and I’m like…’I’m here, I’m over here, the baby’s coming!’”

“I saw the baby’s head; the baby’s head was out. So, he was saying to me, ‘Listen, the baby’s going to be slippery, you got to catch it. Don’t let it fall – you got to catch the baby’,” she added.

We can’t imagine how stressful that must have been – well done to Terrice and Austin for doing such a great job.

Thankfully, both Mum and Baby are doing great and are currently recovering in a hospital in nearby Sleepy Hollow.
