Painting your home involves a lot of tester paints and mulling over colours. And while you are free to paint and decorate your house any way you wish, a few of us might appreciate a guiding hand to at least point them in the right direction in terms of colour choices.

Bedroom

When it comes to your bedroom, you want something soothing and relaxing that helps you doze off, not stimulate your mind. So when painting your room, go for pale pink, light khaki, soft purple, light grey or beige.

Hallway

Considering the hallway is the first place, and sometimes the only place, your visitors will see, it is important you get it right! Usually a small, often narrow space, it is advisable you go for a colour that’s not too strong or overwhelming. Light brown, pewter, soft gray, vanilla, light yellow or very pale blue are good choices. Warm orange, navy or even deep red can work depending on your hall size.

Living room

You don’t want to choose a colour that is too busy or going to hurt your eyes, especially when you are going to be relaxing in there. Deep green or purple, pale blue or white look lovely, If you do want to add a bit of colour, why not use a feature wall or incorporate it using accessories and pillows.

Kitchen

When it comes to your kitchen, you can be as creative as you like – but just remember this is the most used room in the whole house! Grey or blue work just as well as light yellow, bright white or even soft blush.

Bathroom

You can use your creativity in your bathroom and experiment with various different colours. The one thing you need to keep in mind when shopping for paint colours is the size of your room. You don’t want to use a bright red in a tiny ensuite but a paler shade might work.  Green, purple, yellow, blue, orange, beige and white work well – so you really can treat yourself!
