It’s a bittersweet story. 26 year old Christine Bolden from Michigan, who had been declared brain dead as a result of having two brain aneurysms, gave birth to twin boys Alexander and Nicholas at just 25 weeks by c-section.
Christine had collapsed suddenly some weeks earlier as she was leaving a building with her 3 year old son and boyfriend. Doctors later confirmed that she had two brain aneurysms that had burst. She remained on life support, carrying the twin boys for another month, until doctors delivered Nicholas, weighing just 1lb 9oz and Alexander, weighing just 1lb 4oz, as Christine’s blood pressure reached a dangerously high level.
The boys are clinging to life and have a long fight ahead of them, but even as Christine’s family grieve her tragic loss they are hopeful that the twins will survive. Her brother, Vance Terrell asked for prayers for his family and for the young boys, saying “I can’t wait to be able to touch them and pick them up and tell them about their mother and give them so much love. They’re so precious”.
