The release date for series 8 of Call The Midwife has FINALLY been confirmed

Call The Midwife fans, rejoice! The BBC has finally confirmed the release date for series eight and it’s a lot sooner than we thought.

The Christmas special warmed our hearts and had us sobbing at the same time. It made us realise just how much we missed the beloved drama series.

Fans will be thrilled to hear that series eight will return to our screens on Sunday, January 13.

Call The Midwife shared the official news alongside the teaser trailer on their Twitter account.

They wrote: “It's Official!! Call the Midwife Series 8 will premiere on @BBCOne on Sunday 13th January!! Only a few weeks to wait!! #callthemidwife.”

Fans of the show couldn’t help but burst with excitement following the announcement.

One wrote: “This has made me so happy! I can’t wait to see what this series has in store!”

“Oh, the BEST news! Don’t kill off Sister Monica Joan,” one pleaded.

Another shared: “Oh my Sunday eves are about to get fabulous!! I love Call The Midwife.”

Fan favourites including Dr Turner, Sister Monica Joan, Nurse Trixie and Fred will be returning for series eight.

Unfortunately, one of our favourite characters won’t be returning for series eight. Victoria Yeates confirmed that she has decided to quit the show to pursue other roles.

The actress is best-known for playing the chirpy Sister Winifred on the BBC drama series.

Victoria made her final appearance in the Call The Midwife Christmas special.

We’re sure the upcoming series will be as wonderful as ever, despite her absence.

Call The Midwife airs on BBC One on Sunday, January 13.
