There are certain books that absolutely EVERYONE read and cherished in their youth, and we can bet that Roald Dahl’s The BFG was one of them for you.

If you were as big a fan as us, you will be delighted to hear that the new trailer for the live-action remake of the classic tale has finally been released!

The BFG, standing for Big Friendly Giant, tells the story of the unusual but charming friendship between 10-year-old Sophie and a giant whom she meets and accompanies to Giant Country.

There, Sophie gets to know the BFG’s magical world and finds out about his job collecting dreams and sending them to children.

Based on the novel that has sold 200 million copies worldwide, and directed by the award-winning Steven Spielberg, The BFG looks set to be a box-office hit with readers old and new.

While the movie has been long anticipated by fans of Roald Dahl, it was specially chosen for release this year to coincide with the 100th anniversary of the author’s birth.

Irish fans will be pleased to know that the movie will be released here on July 22, 2016.

For anyone who isn’t sold, as Spielberg says himself: “It’s a story about friendship, it’s a story about loyalty and protecting your friends, and it’s a story that shows that even a little girl can help a big giant solve his biggest problems.”
