The worlds smallest surviving baby leaves hospital after five months

A baby girl, who is believed to be the world’s tiniest baby, has finally left the hospital. The tiny tot weighed the same as an apple.

Baby Saybie weighed an astonishing 245g (8.6 ounces) when she was born in December. Five months have passed since her birth date and she now weighs a healthy five pounds and is ready to go home.

She was born at a mere 23 weeks and doctors believed she would only survive one hour after her mum gave birth to her.

However, their daughter has defied the odds and is being hailed a miracle baby.

Sharp Mary Birch Hospital for Women & Newborn shared a video about their little miracle.

Her family has decided to stay anonymous but they wanted to share this incredible story with the world, especially so they can acknowledge the work of the staff at Sharp Mary Birch Hospital for Women & Newborn.

Speaking about the little girl, nurse Emma Wiest said: “You could barely see her in the bed she was so tiny.”

Nurse Kim Norby added: “She’s a miracle, that’s for sure.”

A pink sign next to her crib read, ‘Tiny but Mighty’.

Dr Edward Bell told The Associated Press that Saybie had the lowest medically confirmed birth weight on the registry, but they cannot rule out smaller infants who have not been registered.

The nurses and doctors put a tiny graduation cap on Saybie when she left the hospital and finally headed home with her dear parents.
