Congratulations are in order for sports presenter and Strictly champion Ore Oduba and his wife Portia, who are expecting their first child together.

Ore, who won the coveted glitterball last year, announced their happy news on Instagram with a funny photo of himself feigning shock while a happy Portia cradled her bump in the background.

The proud dad-to-be shared his joy and elation as he wrote: “Not sure what I did to deserve this one. My best friend, the most amazing wife and soon-to-be the most amazing mum.

“Been a pretty life-changing last 12 months, now @portiajett and I are preparing for our biggest adventure yet! Can't hide our excitement anymore.

“Starting a family has always been our dream. And no prizes for guessing... THERE. WILL. BE. TEARS!!”

The presenter added the hashtag #babynews and #tinydancer, referring to his Strictly win.

Portia followed up with her own snap of herself posing in grey leisure wear which showed off her growing baby bump. “Baby Oduba. We already love you so much,” she wrote underneath.

Model and fellow Strictly contestant Daisy Lowe was among the first to offer her congratulations, writing: "Yesssss, congrats angels!"

The happy couple have been together for several years, and they tied the knot in 2015. Earlier this year, Ore had joked that the couple were “too busy” to have children, however, it appears he may have just trying to deflect attention from their plans for a family.

During an interview with Lorraine Kelly, Ore dodged the topic of children. Lorraine asked him outright: “So, when are you going to have babies?”

“Are you going to get on my back with the babies as well as my mum and dad?” Ore responded cheekily. "Of course (it would be lovely) - when you have time! Last year we spent about a day in the year together.

“Give us a break! Give us a chance! We haven’t got the time!

"We have always - since the first week of us being together - we have always talked about it.

"When it's right and ready... whatever it is!"

Congrats to Ore and Portia, no doubt they are incredibly excited for the new arrival.
