This famous actor is in talks to play Gepetto in Disneys Pinocchio

Disney has been creating a slew of live-action remakes of their classic animated films, and a reboot of their 1940 gem Pinocchio is officially in the works.

Variety has reported that Disney is searching for the perfect actor to play the fatherly puppeteer Gepetto for their upcoming film, based on the 1883 novel The Adventures of Pinocchio by Carlo Collodi.

After months of speculation, the major studio is finally releasing the first snippets of information about the casting procedure.

Allegedly, Tom Hanks is in talks to play Gepetto in the film, based around a mischievous puppet who wants to come to life.

If we cast our minds back to the infamous story, Gepetto is the creator of Pinocchio, a wooden puppet which is brought to life by a fairy who grants Pinocchio the wish of becoming a real boy if only he behaves truthfully.

The 62-year-old actor is already a fan favourite, and has played characters which are renowned with adults and children alike, such as Woody in Toy Story, the protagonist in Forrest Gump and Josh Baskin in Big.

Paul King, the film-maker behind Paddington, is set to direct the forthcoming film, one of numerous live-action remakes coming our way.

Disney has yet to announce a release date for the reboot.

The studio have already remade Beauty and the BeastThe Jungle Book and the list of future live-action reboots include DumboThe Lion KingMulan, and Lady and the Tramp.
