Keira Knightley has staunch opinions when it comes to letting her daughter watch Disney films.

The 33-year-old actor has said that she won't be sticking on any classics like Cinderella for her daughter Edie and it's all because of how the lead female characters are portrayed.

Speaking on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, she said that the stories show women that they need to be rescued or make unnecessary sacrifices for men.

Keira revealed that her three-year-old is, ''banned from watching Cinderella, as the film is about waiting around for a rich guy to rescue her – no, rescue yourself!"

She continued, ''this is the one I'm quite annoyed about because I really like the film, but The Little Mermaid. The songs are great, but do not give your voice up for a man. Hello?!"

However, there are some Disney films that have got her seal of approval such as Finding Dory as well as Moana, both of which have strong female role models.

When it comes to future careers for her little girl, Keira said that she had ideas about what she wants to do.

She said, 'she wanted to be a dentist. I'm not sure why, she loves Peppa Pig and fell in love with a dentist episode."

And what about following in her famous mother's footsteps?

She added, ''even if she wanted to be an actress, I'm going to support her in anything she wants to do."

Edie is Keira's only child, who she has with her husband, musician James Righton.

What do you think about her decision to not allow her kid to watch those films?
