We're suckers for romance here at MummyPages HQ, and while we certainly see the merit in love stories like The Notebook and Titanic, everyday examples of undying devotion tend to do more for us than grand gestures worthy of a cinema screen.
And it seems like millions of social media users are with us on this one if the reaction to one particular photograph is anything to go by this week!
Taken in the cosmetics aisle of a grocery store, one elderly couple were seen sharing a moment which reminds us what love is all about - patience, understanding and a desire to support a certain someone no matter what the bind or debacle.
Personifying the term 'love' in one brief moment, this couple's image made it to the Love What Matters Facebook page accompanied by a touching explanation for the snapshot, beginning: "This husband was helping his wife choose a make-up that matched her skin tone."
"She was so concerned about finding the right one and he was so unbelievably helpful. She was having a "girl" moment, in a panic struggling to find the right one," read the accompanying post. "He calmed her down, helped her find her colour and kissed her on the forehead."
Reflecting on the impact the shared moment had on the photographer, the post ended with the words: "It was such a simple way to show how big his love was for her. A perfect reminder that our bodies grow old but our love doesn't have to."
Unsurprisingly, the image has been liked almost one million times since its upload just yesterday, with thousands of Facebook users eager to share their thoughts on the sweet image.
Opening up to social media users all over the world, one member of the public shared: "When my mom started having inklings of Alzheimer's, my dad would remind her it was time to visit the beauty parlour, then he'd take her. They were married 60+ years when mom passed suddenly."
This is definitely a photo we'll revert to when we need a little pick-me-up.
