Nicolla Rushton’s body was discovered after her toddler was found walking alone to her nursery.

 

The toddler was found by an off-duty police officer and when they asked her where she was going she told them “I am going to nursery. I can’t wake mummy up.”

 

Along with his wife, the police officer then followed the toddler back to her home in Burton-on-Trent, Staffordshire where they found her mum.

 

 

The inquest into the death of Nicolla hear how her body was found face down in her bedroom alongside drug paraphernalia which included burnt foil.

 

The coroner revealed the mother-of-one has a history of drinking and mental health issues and was prescribed antidepressants two days before she died.

 

Later that day she was met by her stepfather who said she had been under the influence of alcohol.

 

It was confirmed that she was drinking and taking drugs in the hours leading up to her death which the coroner recorded as the reason for her passing.
