While many people resort to fancy whitening procedures to maintain those pearly whites, some simple dietary changes could have a major impact.
1. Milk
Not just great for healthy bones, milk is loaded with calcium which strengthens teeth and enamel, keeping them whiter. Yoghurt also performs the same service.
2. Apples
While the crispness of an apple strengthens your gums, the high water content leads to increased saliva production. Saliva breaks down the harmful bacteria and plaque that attacks our enamel, so eating an apple a day really is a good call.
3. Strawberries
Don’t let its delicious vibrant shade of red fool you – strawberries are friends of your teeth; this is due to the fact that they contain malic acid, which removes surface discolouration.
4. Water
Water clears your mouth of those dark food pigments that, if left to linger on your teeth, can cause nasty staining. Have a glass with each meal, and be sure to swill it around your teeth to remove surface residue.
5. Broccoli
Not just a great source of iron, broccoli florets are also credited with cleansing the surface of your teeth during a meal, removing potential stains.
