A set of new parents from South America have made history by becoming the first transgender couple in the country to give birth.

Fernando Machado and Diane Rodriguez welcomed their little one back in June, but waited until now to go public with their news. Further details, including the tot’s name, have not yet been revealed.

The couple, from Ecuador, hit the headlines when they announced their pregnancy earlier this year.

As neither Fernando nor Diane have undergone full gender reassignment yet, their baby was conceived naturally.

Throughout their journey, they shared insights into their pregnancy, including photos of Fernando showing off his baby bump.

Naturally, they have faced their fair share of criticism, but they have always stood defiantly in the face of discrimination.

In an interview with the BBC, Fernando previously said: “We are the same as other families. Even though we might not have the same rights, we’re the same.”

After three blissful months with their little one, the couple have revealed that they are hoping to expand their brood.

We wish them all the luck in the world.
