Losing a parent is one of the hardest things any young person can ever go through, and it must be doubly difficult when their legacy is such that they are mentioned in every interview you carry out.
This appears to be the case for young Bindi Irwin, the 17-year-old daughter of the legendary Steve Irwin, also known as the ‘Crocodile Hunter’.
In a new interview, with Australia’s Sunday Style, Bindi opened up about her budding career and her life without her beloved father.
Speaking candidly about her dad’s tragic passing, the young star said: “You never actually move on from it.”
Referring to claims that ‘time heals all wounds’, she added: “There really isn’t a greater lie. It’s just not true. It’s like losing a part of your heart. And when you’ve lost that, you never get it back. Part of you will always be missing. It was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to deal with.”
Recalling how, in the beginning, it was difficult to even get out of bed, Bindi revealed that the support of mum Terri and brother Bob has helped her through the most difficult times.
Steve died nine years ago after being stung by the barb of a stingray while shooting an underwater segment for his TV show.
