It’s hard enough when a relationship breaks down, but when you still have feelings for the other person it can be even more heartbreaking.
If you are still lingering after your ex, but they simply have no feelings for you, there are a few things you can do to feel a little better.
1. Distance yourself
Obviously, if you have children together you will need to see them regularly, but try to distance yourself as much as possible. Only get in touch if it’s about the kids and only when dropping or collecting your youngsters. This can give you a sense of perspective.
2. Enjoy your single life
Sometimes your feelings can be based on your need for someone to want you, instead, enjoy your single life, spend time doing fun things with the kids and go on a holiday with them – you never know who might meet!
3. Be firm with yourself
Make sure the other person knows that it is over. Sometimes you need to be cruel to be kind so do be firm about your feelings and don’t leave it too long otherwise it will just be worse for both of you.
4. Distract yourself
Pick up a new hobby, go on a little holiday and spend time with your kids, anything to distract yourself from your feelings and get your mind off this person.
5. Date other people
When you have a crush or feelings for a particular person it can be difficult to see them for who they are. Go out on dates and meet new people – you never know who you might meet!
