Ed Sheeran is currently in the middle of his nine-date Irish tour. The Perfect singer kicked off the tour to a sold-out Páirc Ui Chaoimh in Cork on Friday.

The popular singer is due to perform across the Emerald Isle this month, and despite his hectic schedule, the Thinking Out Loud singer found the time to meet one very special fan over the weekend.

Vicky Phelan, who is one of the victims of the CervicalCheck controversy, revealed that her daughter was lucky enough to meet the singer-songwriter in Cork on Saturday night.

The mum tweeted a photo of her daughter with the Shape Of You singer, “This happened yesterday. My daughter, Amelia, met her idol, @edsheeran.”

“A massive shout out to my new BFF @willhanafin and @RadioRayRTE for organising this for Amelia,” she gushed.

The mum added some lyrics from Ed’s song Photograph at the end of her tweet, “We are "keeping this love in a photograph."

Ray D’Arcy praised the Castle On The Hill singer for his act of kindness, “Amazing gesture by Ed Sheeran last night by agreeing to meet Amelia  - #vickyphelan ‘s daughter.”

He shared that RTÉ Radio One was honoured to help out with organising the meetup.

He said, “@RadioRayRTE were happy to play our part to make it happen with @aikenpromotions for that amazing woman and her family.”
