You’d be forgiven for thinking Reese Witherspoon and Ava Phillippe are sisters rather than a mum and her daughter.
The blonde teen, who will be 18 in a little over a month, is the spitting image of her gorgeous mum in every way, with her nose piercing being the only distinguishing factor.
Reflecting on her daughter’s impending adulthood, Reese has said: “It's so weird. I can't believe she's 18. But she's great, and we did it together. I feel like we grew up together, it's great.”
Reese had Ava at just 23 years old with her then-husband Ryan Phillippe. The pair went on to have a second child, Deacon, now 13; and Reese also has a four-year old son, Tennessee, from her second marriage to film producer Jim Toth.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, the actress said she wouldn’t mind her children watching any of her films because they are “a labour of love” for her.
“I mean, all of them are a labour of love and effort that you put into them. So, I'm very proud of the fact that I've worked a lot in my life."
She added that Ava has already watched Big Little Lies, and said she's proud of her work on the show.
“I felt like none of these women were good or bad; they were all just this, you know, dynamic exploration of what it really means to be a woman nowadays,” Reese explained.
In a previous interview with Glamour, Reese discussed mum-guilt and the various challenges that face both working and stay-at-home mums.
“Every woman feels guilty if they’re working, or guilty if they’re staying home all the time. There are all sorts of factors in between about economics and what each family needs.
“Actually... Big Little Lies, has a lot to do with that, and about the complexity of women’s lives and the choices they have to make that affect their self-esteem and their marriage and their family.”
Reese recently celebrated her 41st birthday, which was a glamorous affair involving a custom-designed dress, pink balloons, and an intimate gathering of family and friends at Hotel Bel Air.
Reese shared a snap of herself with Ava and Deacon, who both looked very grown-up, writing: “There’s nothing better than spending my birthday with my wonderful kids.”
Reese certainly knows how to throw a party – we bet Ava is looking forward to her 18th birthday bash.
