Blurred Lines singer Robin Thicke, 40, is having his second child with model girlfriend April Love Geary, three years on from his split with wife Paula Patton.
April, 22, took to her Instagram account yesterday afternoon to post a photo of herself in a bikini displaying the tiniest of bumps. “Happy in Hawaii with my lil peanut”, she wrote.
Prior to this, she shared a photo of her scan and announced: “Robin and I are very excited to share with you all that we're having a baby! The due date is March 1st, Alan's birthday!”
Alan refers to Alan Thicke, Robin’s father, who passed away in December 2016, making the due date all the more significant.
According to TMZ, the couple are expecting a baby girl. Robin already has a seven-year-old son, Julian, while this is April’s first child.
The couple have told Julian about the baby this week and he's "super excited for a little sister”.
Robin has not yet finalised his divorce from ex-wife Paula and they had difficulty coming to a custody arrangement because Paula alleged that the singer had used "excessive spanking" to discipline Julian, who was six at the time.
TMZ claimed to have obtained court documents filed by Paula, in which she requested for Robin’s joint custody to be limited.
The matter is said to have kicked off when Julian approached a school official, alleging that his father had smacked him "really hard".
The incident was reported to child services who launched an investigation, and mum Paula initially responded by denying Robin access to their son.
She then proceeded to request an official change to their joint custody agreement, claiming that Julian was “scared” of his father.
In response to the allegations, Robin issued a statement saying: "On a very rare occasion and only as a last resort, I will use light spanking, but it is consistent with the law – open hand on the butt. This is the type of discipline to which Paula and I agreed during our marriage”.
It’s believed the custody battle was taking its on toll on Julian and the couple agreed to work together to come to a settlement since.
Robin has hinted at his desire for more children in the past, in February, he said: 'It’s my favorite thing to do in the world. I plan on many more.'
