There is nothing worse than a rip or a tear in your lovely leather couch, but with children running around the house it is sure to happen. Before you break out into a sweat and run out to buy a whole new set, follow these steps to fix it.

Step 1.

Make sure the area around the rip or tear is clean and dry. Trim away any threads or loose material.

Step 2.

Cut a leather patch to size. You can pick up some patches in your local material store or sometimes they come with the furniture. Cut it so that it fits inconspicuously over the tear.

Step 3.

Spread a little glue around the edges of the patch.

Step 4.

Position the patch slightly under the tear rather than over it.

Step 5.

Wipe away any excess liquid and allow to dry.
